A beloved seasonal event is back at Walt Disney World! The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays is a festive exploration of holiday traditions from around the world, bringing together cultural displays, delicious cuisine, and enchanting entertainment. We visited the event the first day this year and as always had the best time. Let's see some highlights of what you need to see, do and eat this year!
Must See: Candlelight Processional
The Candlelight Processional is a cherished tradition at Epcot. This moving presentation features a celebrity narrator who retells the biblical story of Christmas, accompanied by a full orchestra and a choir. The event is known for its stunning musical performances and the inspirational message it delivers.
Must See: Storytellers and Holiday Traditions
Throughout the World Showcase, guests can encounter storytellers who share the unique holiday traditions of their respective countries. These storytellers bring to life the customs and folklore that make each culture's holiday celebrations special. We enjoy seeing Father Christmas in the United Kingdom but note there's a wealth of stories to discover during the holiday festival.
Must Do: Holiday Cookie Stroll
For those with a sweet tooth, the Holiday Cookie Stroll is a fun activity that allows guests to sample a selection of cookies from different Holiday Kitchens. Participants can collect stamps for each cookie purchased and receive a special treat upon completion of the stroll. The Linzer Cookie is hands down my favorite each year but I did enjoy the NEW Spaceship Earth Tile Gingerbread Triangle. Once you complete the stroll, Guest can receive a completer prize which is a cookie kit to take home.
Must Do: Olaf's Holiday Expedition Tradition
Olaf's Holiday Expedition is a delightful scavenger hunt that takes place througohout Epcot. This family-friendly activity invites guests to join Olaf, the lovable snowman from Disney's Frozen, as he embarks on a festive quest around the World Showcase.
Guest can purchase a map and sticker set at select merchandise locations throughout for $9.99. The map guides guests to different pavilions, where Olaf has hidden festive items tied to the holiday traditions of each country. As guests locate each hidden item, they can mark it on their map with the corresponding sticker.
Once you have successfully found all of Olaf's hidden items and completed their maps, they can return to a designated location to receive a special keepsake. This reward serves as a delightful memento of their holiday expedition and adds an extra layer of joy to the festive experience.
Must Eat: Holiday Kitchens
One of the main attractions of the festival is the Holiday Kitchens. These food booths are located throughout the World Showcase and offer a variety of seasonal and traditional dishes from different countries. Guests can savor flavors from around the globe, with offerings ranging from savory entrees to sweet desserts and holiday beverages. The Yukon Kitchen is one of my favorites and recommend trying the Seared Salmon and Beef Bourguignon.
Tips for Enjoying the Festival
Plan Ahead:Â The festival can get busy, especially during weekends and evenings. Consider visiting on a weekday for a more relaxed experience.
Make Dining Reservations:Â If you plan to enjoy a sit-down meal, make reservations in advance, as restaurants can fill up quickly during the festival. Candlelight Processional Dining packages are a great way to sit and eat plus get seating for the show.
Check the Schedule:Â Be sure to check the schedule for special performances and events so you don't miss out on anything you want to experience.
Whether you're a local or a visitor from afar, the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season with family and friends. With its diverse cultural offerings, delectable food, and heartwarming entertainment, it's a magical experience that embodies the spirit of the holidays. Until our next expedition.....
